Thanks for stopping by! I would love to help you meet your health and wellness goals.
My wellness journey started in the '90s when I was a young and hopeful dancer. I was serious and determined and I did everything I could to make my body into what I wanted it to be. I made a LOT of unhealthy choices, mainly when it came to nutrition and over-training, but I made some healthy discoveries, too. I started looking at what I was using in and on my body- questioning the health and safety of food and the products I was using. I also found Pilates and fell in love with how that felt in my body. I was fueled by how my body felt with movement and although a career as a dancer was not in the cards I wanted help people move better and feel their best.
I set my sites on a career that would incorporate my love of movement and went on to earn my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Duke University's School of Medicine. I was close to doing what my heart wanted, but after seven years of intense schooling, I knew that a career in traditional PT was not for me.
I was different.
I was different in how I looked at the body, in how I approached movement and how I perceived health and wellness overall.
I did some serious soul searching and thought back to what fuels me: movement, finding healthier ways of living and helping others do the same. Now it was time to combine my passions and skills and share them with others!
Over the past 15 years I have been living my passion- owning an integrative wellness studio where I combine my skills as a physical therapist and Pilates teacher to support healthy movement in others.
I teach teachers, train physical therapy students and help my clients through Classical Pilates and Pilates-based PT... I love it, but until a few years ago, something was still missing. I started to question and explore other areas of wellness.
I met Adam Decker (the Yang to my Yin!) in 2010 and we started our family a few years later.
Having children CHANGED. MY. WORLD!
It was then that I started paying even closer attention what we were using in our homes, on our bodies and what we were doing to support and promote wellness in general. My passion for wellness grew from just the physical aspect of health to a more global look at how I could support a healthy lifestyle for me and my family.
I stumbled into essential oils and essential oil based products when looking for ways to detox our home and studio from harsh chemicals and toxins. I didn't want to put anything on my children that could cause harm now or years down the road. I did my research and found Young Living's Seed to Seal quality guarantee and began confidently switching to safer products. Now Adam and I are both passionate about sharing our journey so that we can help others make healthier choices.
Health and wellness are a journey. I am not perfect. I love french fries and eat Ben & Jerry's Non-Dairy Ice Cream more nights than I would like to admit. I skip workouts and my kids have more screen time than they should. As humans, we are just doing our best, while making the best choices we can.
I have learned a lot over the nearly 20 years that I have been studying movement, health, and wellness and I would love to share my knowledge with you. Click here
